The energy of the city creates a treasure trove of light, shapes and pattern from which Annabel draws on as inspiration. From the buzz of the morning traffic to the fading evenings and dim lit streets, these traits instil a passion for her urban environment.
From this, dynamic and intelligent woven works respond to the high intensity of the city.
Working with reflective yarns to create the cloth and introducing printing and engraving onto Perspex, Annabel creates lighting boxes that house warm LED lights to illuminate your space. Introducing CAD technologies to the fiercely traditional technique of hand weaving, Annabel accentuates the order of threads.
Through a series of manipulated photographs, a base is created from which she can translate onto the loom.
This is done by shaking the camera or overexposing an image. These manipulated images and consequently, manipulated weave structures give the works its diversity.
Light inspired by light.
